On Thursday, January 31, 2019, convenzione for professional internships was activated between the Department of Architecture and Design of the University of Genoa and the Orders of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators of Genoa, Imperia, La Spezia, and Savona.
The Director of the Department of Architecture and Design, and the Presidents of the Ligurian Orders of Architects signed the Convention for professional internship activities (pursuant to Articles 17 and 18 of Presidential Decree No. 328 of June 5, 2001), which allows architecture graduates to carry out a professional internship at professional firms and sector companies, as well as at Public Bodies. This internship serves as a substitute for the practical test of the state examination for the profession of Architect P.P.C. at the University of Genoa.
The internship will follow a Training Plan drafted by the Intern in collaboration with the Internship Supervisor, who must be an architect registered for at least five years with one of the A.P.P.C. Orders of Liguria. An Internship Commission, composed equally of members from the Order and the University, will accredit the entities available to host interns and validate the actual completion of the internships.
Upon completion, the competent provincial Order issues the Professional Internship certificate, valid for legal purposes. Any organization interested in hosting interns must apply for accreditation with the relevant provincial Order and must communicate in advance its willingness to provide a reimbursement of expenses to the interns. The internship involves completing 720 hours within a maximum period of 6 months, fulfilling the objectives outlined in the training plan.
To allow for greater learning flexibility, the internship can be structured and divided into up to three different periods with as many different host organizations. Furthermore, it is possible to start the internship even after obtaining a first-level degree (Bachelor's). Those currently undertaking an internship can request recognition of all or part of the completed activity by submitting an application and completing the documents required to initiate the professional internship, provided the application reaches the competent Order by the end of March 2019.
For all details, please refer to the text of the convention and its attachments, which require careful reading. To activate the internship, it is necessary to submit duly completed and signed Form A and Form F to the secretariat of the Ligurian Order of Architects P.P.C. with which the "Internship Supervisor" is registered.
