Participate in the creation of a wooden architectural project that will transform the common areas of a social housing building, owned by the Regional Territorial Building Company (ARTE) of Imperia, into gathering spaces for residents and neighborhood residents.
The workshop offers hands-on training to create a wooden architectural project that will transform the common areas of a social housing building in Imperia into gathering spaces for residents and neighborhood residents of the Porto Maurizio district of Imperia.
The project, inspired by the values of the New European Bauhaus, envisions a beautiful, modular, and multifunctional space featuring:
Simple, compact, and lightweight modular furniture made by assembling two wooden construction elements and adjustable according to needs (seats, tables, shelves).
A site-specific external structure consisting of a platform that will cover the existing flowerbed with seating, shade structures, and small planting trays.
Participants will practice assembly and construction techniques using only local wood.
The workshop is free and includes lunch breaks.
SUITABLE FOR:
The workshop is intended for students in the Master's Degree programs in Architecture (LM4) and Architectural Sciences (from the second year) (L17) of the Department of Architecture and Design at the University of Genoa.
WHERE AND WHEN
The workshop will be held at Via Pirinoli 47 in Imperia from Saturday, October 18th to Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, and will be divided into two sessions:
1) Students from the University of Genoa will be involved only during the following weekends:
October 18th and 19th
October 25th and 26th
November 1st and 2nd
2) Students from the Scuola Edile di Imperia will be involved during weekdays (from Monday, October 20th to Friday, October 24th and from Monday, October 27th to Friday, October 31st).
